Please join us for the February Tech Social! Note that the venue is the Ellen Driscoll Auditorium at Havens. The theme is "Robotics". Similar to previous Tech Socials, the event will include social time, pizza dinner, a short TEDx-like talk, and self-organizing pods with topics such as Minecraft, board games, wearables, and any other topics you would like to share! The fee is $5 (which covers equipment and refreshments) and you can of course donate more to support this effort!

We will have a few robot demonstrations and ask all attendees to bring robot-themed activities. If you want to make a robot costume, please bring a large enough box to serve as your “body”. Lego Mindstorm sets would be good for this event! Some other ideas for fun activities for this theme:

Tech Social is a "roll up your sleeves" event, so bring in your February Tech Bag:

- Something robot-y

- Box, marker, scissors if making a robot costume

- Robot kit or toys to play with and/or build

- A reusable water bottle

Piedmont Tech Social is sponsored by Piedmont Makers, an APCP group dedicated to support STEAM education in the district.


6:00-6:30pm: Come right in and start working/playing/sharing/learning!

6:30-7:00pm: Dinner & Short Talk

7:00-9:00pm: Self-Organizing Pods with cookie break at 8:00pm


Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

No, this is for all ages. This is not a drop-off event - please have an adult loosely associated with any attendee under the age of 13..

What is the meal going to be?

Dinner will be pizza from Lanesplitter, with water and milk also provided. If you want to bring your own water bottle, so much the better. There will be a cookie break during the self-organizing pod session.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

As long as you pre-register before 3p the day of the event, there is no need. If you register later, please consider printing your ticket or having a copy on your phone..

What is the refund policy?

We understand that plans change, particularly with families! However, the majority of our costs are sunk immediately (facility and equipment rental), so while we are happy to refund your fee up to 24 hrs in advance of the event, please consider making it a donation instead.
