Event description

Description

Bring a brown-bag lunch and join Tennessee Parks & Greenways Foundation (TennGreen) at a Tennessee treasure known for its rare and nationally-significant cave art! Studied by the Smithsonian Institute, the National Geographic Society, the University of Tennessee, and more, Devilstep Hollow Cave stands out among others in the southeastern United States by containing petroglyphs, pictographs, and mud glyphs. Followed by a picnic at this historic and scenic site that TennGreen protected in 2007, archaeologist and educator, Dr. Jan Simek will join our group to discuss the cave's thousand-year-old drawings.

NOTE: This presentation will feature photos taken from inside the cave and will be held inside the lodge. Due to vandalism and a very difficult entrance, the cave is not accessible or open to the public. TennGreen will email driving directions to registered attendees closer to the event date. Event is FREE for members of TennGreen; $10 for non-members. SPACE IS LIMITED.

Thank you Dr. Jan Simek for giving this presentation.
