As the seasons change, we feel drawn back to our roots and simpler times when we would use vegetables grown in the backyard and preserve produce to get through the colder months. In an attempt to connect with our roots and to celebrate local food, we are throwing our first ever pickling party!
Local Roots NYC is partnering with Brooklyn Brine to bring you an evening of pickling. Learn how to pickle your favorite CSA vegetables! We'll also be discussing the science behind pickling, the benefits of pickling, and how pickling impacts the nutritional content to vegetables.
The party will take place on December 5 from 6:30-8 pm. We will provide all pickling ingredients, recipes, and expertise. Please bring your own mason jar so you can take home your pickles to enjoy!
About the Venue:
This event will be held at our founder's home in historic Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Originally a church and now a landmarked building, Wen-Jay's apartment is decorated with trinkets and art found while traveling the world and footage from Local Roots CSA farms will be projected on the wall.
