This series is designed for physio students and recent grads who want to strengthen their core skills to thrive in private practice.

Thriving in musculoskeletal private practice can feel challenging—especially in your early career. This four-part workshop series is designed for physiotherapy students and recent graduates who want to strengthen their core skills and build confidence in the private practice environment.

Across four targeted 90-minute sessions, you’ll learn how to manage a caseload effectively, communicate with clarity and confidence, and develop practical systems that support excellent clinical outcomes.

Location: Equip Physiotherapy, Winston Hills

Time: 7:00pm

Cost: $50 per workshop

Format: Four evening sessions throughout 2026


Session 1: Taping Workshop — Monday, February 23

Build practical taping skills to set you up for success on the sideline and in the clinic. Master the basics and move forward with confidence in your ability to strap the lower limb

  • Ankle
  • Foot - Low dye
  • Knee - McConnell, MCL, PCL

Session 2: Assessment & Treatment Skills — Monday, May 18

Develop a structured and clinically sound approach to your assessment. Gain confidence in pattern recognition, why the question matters and how to use the history to set up your testing in the physical exam. 

Core skills we’ll cover include

  • Taking a thorough and meaningful history
  • Developing a list of potential diagnosis based off the history
  • Conducting an effective physical examination
  • Delivering a clear, patient-centred treatment pathway

Session 3: Soft Skills for Private Practice — Monday, July 27

Explore the interpersonal and communication skills that drive outcomes and retention:

  • Creating safe spaces
  • Building rapport with patients
  • The “less is more” principle in private practice
  • Identifying meaningful goals (“getting to the why”)
  • Answering the four key patient questions
  • Rebooking with confidence and integrity
  • Understanding KPIs 

Session 4: Lumbar Spine Masterclass — Monday, October 12

Bring together the skills from Sessions 2 and 3 with a focused deep-dive into:

  • Assessment of the lumbar spine
  • Clinical reasoning
  • Shared decision-making
  • Evidence-based management strategies
