This 3 day course is designed to equip the physical therapist with the background knowledge, standardized forms and questionnaires, hands on skills, standardized protocols and resources to evaluate and treat the patient who is trans/gender non-conforming.

Prerequisite of having pelvic floor course work: Intermediate level.

What To Expect

* Hands on lab to assess the natal male and female pelvic floor, surrounding musculature, and orthopedic screening

* Hands on lab to practice GRS rigid/silicone dilation

* Hands on lab focused on manual therapy and treatment options for LGBTQI individuals

* Lab: yoga/meditation relaxation

* Pre-operative care- lectures & labs regarding hormones and readiness for surgeries

* Inter-operative care- lectures & labs regarding various surgeries

* Post-operative care- lectures & labs regarding optimal healing, wellness and function

– vaginoplasty findings, absence of bulbospongiosus (changes post- op), FTM enlarged clitoris, releasing of clitoral ligament – scarring at neophallus, labia majora vaginectomy, hysterectomy scars, phalloplasty scar donor sites and tissue releases, tissue changes after testosterone, bony landmarks, sensation checks, q- tips, squirters, lubricants
