Event description

Description

The Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework (PAMF) is kicking off its 2018/19 season with training sessions around the Great Lakes basin. Register today!

Who: You! If you manage Phragmites in the Great Lakes basin, or are interested in doing so, you can help. New PAMF members are encouraged to attend a training, and previous attendees are more than welcome to attend as well.

Background: PAMF is a program seeking to improve management outcomes in the Great Lakes basin by incorporating adaptive management and collective learning techniques into a decision-support tool. Although many management strategies exist, their effectiveness is highly dependent on environmental conditions, timing, and application technique. To address these challenges, PAMF will evaluate management activities across the basin with the goal of maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of all future management actions. However, a strategy like this does not work without involvement from Phragmites Phighters like you!

Training Session: The PAMF training session will be 10 am – 2 pm. We will cover general information about PAMF, how you can implement PAMF protocols, and some updates since our 2017 pilot year. The training session will include a short field trip to demonstrate protocols, and new PAMF members will receive a PAMF field kit.

Registration: Register for the training session by clicking “Register” above. If more than one person from your organization is planning to attend, please contact Samantha Stanton (sstanton@glc.org) to ensure there is enough space in the venue. If the date or location for this training does not work for you, please reach out, as there are other training dates and locations we can suggest. Upon registration, you will be added to our list and hear from us soon with more details.

Thank you in advance for joining PAMF in our effort to defend the Great Lakes basin against Phragmites!
