Event description

Description

On behalf of the Georgetown University School of Medicine's Physicians for Human Rights Chapter and the Physicians for Human Rights Student Advisory Board, we are thrilled to invite you to the PHR National Student Conference: White Coats in Action.

Our goal is to unite health professionals and students, immerse them in the human rights community of Washington, D.C., and provide the foundation for skills that will allow them to advocate for their patients throughout their careers. We will be kicking off the weekend with an Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, where we will both train our attendees in the fundamentals of political advocacy and have them advocate to their representatives directly. We will then be joined by Dr. Homer Venters and other PHR Notables for a research reception.

Our main session on Saturday, November 4th will feature keynotes from luminaries in the field of human rights and medicine, skill building plenary sessions, and the unique opportunity to be inspired by the stories of refugees and asylum seekers directly.

We will end the conference with an excursion to the United States Holocaust Museum on Sunday, November 5th.

We are excited to welcome you and continue to promote the advancement of human rights.
