Photography as a Path to Healing: Participatory Photography Groups as Therapeutic Tool for Individuals, Groups, Families, and Communities

This hands-on, experiential workshop will teach participants how Participatory Photography Groups can be used as a unique therapeutic tool to assist individuals, families, groups and even communities, to describe their emotions, realities, perspectives, and heritage; to find personal empowerment and heal from traumatic experiences.

Objectives

1. Participants will learn definition, methodology, purpose, and goals of Participatory Photography Groups
2. Participants will learn the benefit of using Photography as a tool for advocacy, communication, and self-empowerment with individuals, families, groups, and communities
3. Participants will engage in a hands-on initial mini participatory photography group to allow for experiential learning on how to structure, run and plan for different types of groups.
