This is a full day workshop to establish a solid foundation when it comes to digital photography capture and process. Starting with photography we will make sure you are getting the best possible image ‘in camera’. This includes understanding exposure, making proper lens selections and composing strong photos. We will then establish a workflow using Lightroom to evaluate and develop images.
9:30-11:30 Essentials of DSLR Photography
- Lens Selection
- Importing and Backups
- File sorting and assessment, labels, collections and deleting files.
1:00-1:30 LUNCH-on your own
- Develop Module-breaking down an exposure into its basic elements, highlights, midtones, shadows and contrast. How to 'balance' an image.
- What should you do to your images and when do you know they are 'over-processed'. We will walk through many examples in class.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
A laptop is helpful to follow along, but this is not a “hands-on’ class so there will not be time for stopping and waiting for everyone to catch up.
Pad and paper, recording devices can also be used.
