Event description

Description

In this course, students will have the opportunity to learn how to shoot star trail images!

On Saturday, October 28th, class will meet at the Magnuson Park Playground at 7:45pm (consider arriving 15-20 min early to find parking and group). As a class we will go over important settings, tools and tips to shoot star trail images, and why it is best to shoot a series of images as opposed to one long exposure. Students will be setting up cameras on tripods and using intervelometers or cable releases to shoot their star trails. Wide angle and large aperture lenses are ideal.

Some of the tools and techniques we will discuss will include focusing, importances of lens choices, ISO's, light pollution, digital noise and more. Students should have a good working knowledge of their camera, but all skill levels are welcome.

This is weather dependent course and has the potential to be rescheduled due to rain or cloud cover.

Google Sky Maps can be a great app to pre-download on your phone to choose your composition.

Students will also be given a detailed handout regarding instructions for processing their star trails later. There is also an option for paying an additional $25 for an in person lesson on the image processing.
