Description
From sea to shining sea, the national parks preserve some of the country’s most unique wilderness areas, and are a gift to nature photographers everywhere. In this presentation, Chris Nicholson delves into what the park system offers to the photographer, and shares secrets about photographing some of its gems. Topics will include scouting tools and techniques that help bolster creativity, ancillary gear that improves the experience, and why the parks are ideal for night photography. Many of the national parks will be touched upon, with special emphasis on Acadia, Death Valley, Everglades, Grand Teton, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic, Shenandoah and Yellowstone.
Chris Nicholson is a photographer, educator and writer based in the northeast, is author of "Photographing National Parks" (Sidelight Books, 2015), and is a workshop leader with the National Parks at Night program. A former magazine editor for 10 years, he has worked independently since 2004, with his cameras focused primarily on the travel and sports genres. His work has appeared in several books and over 30 magazines. He is a book editor for National Parks Traveler, an ambassador for Manfrotto, and a member of the Sierra Club and the National Parks Conservation Association. He has presented at many prestiaious conferences including B&H Optic.
Tickets are free to members of local camera clubs and just 5 bucks to the general public. TIckets are required to reserve a seat. Those who show up at the door without tickets may have to stand.
