Event description

Description

Join us in forming community among volunteers interested in housing justice, building our knowledge on housing issues, and supporting our community partner the Met Council on Housing.

We will meet at Repair the World's Crown Heights workshop for dinner, learning, and volunteering. We'll discuss tenant rights in NYC and then call people to invite them to an upcoming event or rally at the Met Council.

**Important note: please bring a computer/tablet and cellphone. If you are unable to bring a computer/tablet, we have laptops you may use, but please email Alison beforehand. Bringing a cellphone is required.

The Metropolitan Council on Housing (also known as the Met Council) is a tenants' rights membership organization made up of New York City tenants who believe in the motto of "housing for people, not profit." Formed over 50 years ago, the Met Council fights for a city where everyone has access to safe, decent, affordable housing. They organize tenants to stand up not both for their individual rights and for changes to housing policies.

Age and accessibility information: Volunteers ages 16+ please. Our workshop is wheelchair accessible, however, the floorboards are a bit uneven at some points. There are no steps.
