Phlebotomy Program at Carolinas College of Health Sciences


Sign up for a one hour Phlebotomy Information Session to be considered for the next available class.

  • Select the date you wish to attend and pay application fee here online.

  • Bring SEALED high school, GED, or college transcript

  • You will take an online 12-minute SLE*** assessment test and have your questions answered!

What is the SLE?

The Scholastic Level Exam measures cognitive ability. It predicts how quickly and thoroughly a student can understand instructions, learn new material and handle the mental demands of school. You will have 12 minutes to answer as many of the provided questions as possible. You will receive 1 point for every correct answer; you do not lose points for incorrect or blank answers.

**The SLE is required for the Phlebotomy Program. By registering for this course, you also acknowledge that you are registering for the test. The test will occur at the end of the information session.**


Program Overview

In this fast-paced 200-hour program you will spend the first 5 weeks in class and online learning the basics of collecting blood specimens by venipuncture and by skin puncture. You will have lectures on anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, safety and infection control and the procedures. After completing this portion of the class, you will move on to the last 5 weeks of clinical rotations.

At the end of the program, you will take a comprehensive examination and will be eligible to sit for a national certifying examination. The Phlebotomy program is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
