Event description
The question of what makes a satisfying, happy life is one of the oldest and most profound questions of philosophy since ancient times.

About this Event

What is a good life? How do we lead a happy life? Is it a life of pleasure or a life of success? Is it a state of mind or a result of good character? What is the connection between living a happy life and a meaningful life?

This talk is a philosophical survey that seeks to illustrate how different philosophers since the Ancient Greeks have inquired this central question of humanity, some of the different and often conflicting answers that have been provided, and the key shifts in our understandings of a happy life with modernity and what is recently called “the science of happiness”.

Come and join us in Philosophy of Good Life talk with Demet Evrenos, who has a PhD in philosophy. She will provide us a with a strong historical and conceptual background of this long-standing question of humanity and will deliver the analytical tools and key philosophical insights that will encourage and inspire us to reflect on our own values.

About the Speaker

Demet Evrenos has an M.A and PhD in Philosophy with a specialization inthe fields of ethics and social/political philosophy, and she has taught extensively at the university level. She is currently having her second PhD in Politics at York University.
