Your Vote Matters: 2022 Midterm Elections and the Environment
When it comes to the environment, our votes have never been more important than they will be in the 2022 Midterm Elections. In Philadelphia, because of its large population, good voter turnout can potentially determine the outcome of the Pennsylvania races for US Senate and Governor.
Additionally on the ballot will be every seat in the PA House of Representatives and half of the State Senate seats. The choices have never been clearer between candidates committed to sustainability and renewable energy versus those who are pro-fossil fuels and opposed to policies to protect the climate and environment.
Join us on Oct 20th for a dynamic conversation about what it takes in PA to make progress on the environment, what is at stake, and what the strategies and on-the-ground plans are to Get Out the Vote (GOTV).
Our host is Charles Ellison, award-winning commentator, advocacy expert, and political strategist. Speakers include Katie Blume, Political Director, League of Conservation Voters of PA, Tim Brown, Philly Neighborhood Networks Organizing Director, Rep. Chris Rabb, Rep. Rick Krajewski, and Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.
Background
Philly Talks Trash is a monthly virtual program intended to educate and inspire Philadelphians to participate in the imperative shift towards a less wasteful society. A collaboration between the Philadelphia Neighborhood Networks’ Environment Action Committee and the Plastic Reduction Task Force of Weavers Way Co-op, this second season of Philly Talks Trash's monthly programs will draw connections between resolving the issues of waste with voting and taking action in the community. Recordings of the programs from our first season, Philly Talks Trash: A Virtual Series on Waste, are available in our program archive.
