Part of Pejepscot History Center's popular Summer Walking Tour Series. The Heyday of Pejepscot Village with Ren Bernier.

About this event

The Heyday of Pejepscot Village led by Ren Bernier

Home in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century to the Pejepscot Paper Mill and the many buildings it constructed to create a full-service hamlet for its employees, Pejepscot Village is kept alive in the memories and stories of its former residents. Ren Bernier’s French-Canadian family worked in the mill and he grew up alongside families of Czech and Slovakian descent. He still lives on the corner of the former village and Route 196 and you’ll walk a portion of the former trolley line that runs through his property. You’ll also see the former school, general store, and some of the remaining houses.

Starting point is 646 Lewiston Rd, Topsham--the parking area for Pejepscot Day School (not the Pejepscot Elementary School / Head Start).

Participants meet at starting point; driving directions and parking information provided upon registration. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.

Tours are limited to 20 unless otherwise noted. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes, though tours outside of downtown may go slightly longer. Please dress accordingly for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, sunblock, and/or bug spray as needed.

TICKET SALES END AT 3:30 THE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR. If a tour is sold out, you may add your information to the waitlist and we will contact you if a ticket becomes available.
