About this event

Mitchell Field, Harpswell led by Spike Haible

PLEASE NOTE THIS RESCHEDULED DATE AND SPECIAL TIME, 10AM

Believe it or not, when the skies are clear, you have a great view of Mt. Washington 80 miles away from this beautiful former-Naval fuel depot-turned-community-gathering-space. Join Harpswell resident Spike Haible on the walk around the 120-acre park including a bandstand, 2600 feet of waterfront, nine buildings, wooded trails, and more. You’ll learn about the remediation of the land following the transfer from the Federal Government, how and why the water tower came down, the birds that nest nearby, and more.

Mitchell Field is located at 1410 Harpswell Neck Road. Meet near the entrance. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited.

Participants meet at starting point; driving directions and parking information provided upon registration. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.

Tours are limited to 20 unless otherwise noted. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes, though tours outside of downtown may go slightly longer. Please dress accordingly for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, sunblock, and/or bug spray as needed.

TICKET SALES END AT 3:30 THE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR. If a tour is sold out, you may add your information to the waitlist and we will contact you if a ticket becomes available.
