Get a Start on Your Pharmacy Career

With the growing need for pharmaceuticals and a rapidly expanding healthcare field, the timing has never been better to begin a career in the industry. About 71% of pharmacy technician jobs are in retail pharmacies, grocery stores or mass retailers. Pharmacy Technicians are in demand and job growth will continue to increase 32% by 2020.

Get started on your healthcare career as a Pharmacy Technician. Work in a variety of settings including pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, retail stores and mail-order pharmacies. Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for receiving and filling prescriptions under the supervision of licensed pharmacists as well as performing duties such as maintaining patient profiles, answering phones and working the register.

All pharmacy technicians must be nationally certified. This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills for an entry level position and prepare you to pass the national certification exam required of all pharmacy technicians in the State of Illinois.

This is a hybrid course that meets for 63 classroom hours and 42 online hours that will require students to use Blackboard. Total course hours 105. Textbooks are required and may be purchased in the CLC bookstore prior to class.

Program requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D, adequate knowledge of 9th and 10th grade math (algebra), proficient in English (verbal and written communication skills), no prior criminal record, 18 years old (some exceptions), hand to eye coordination and finger agility.
