About this event

Preparing for Postpartum: Addressing the Needs of Marginalized Perinatal Clients

PHA is excited to host eunique deeann, perinatal researcher, educator, and full spectrum birthworker, for this interactive workshop that focuses on addressing the unmet needs of perinatal clients who hold marginalized identities. The workshop highlights how an advocacy-centered, community care model of perinatal health can help you better support these underserved clients.

Target Audience: Licensed psychologists and therapists, graduate students, allied mental health professionals, other providers who work with new parents and families.

Learning Objectives:

This workshop is designed to help you:

1. Identify marginalized community members' complex needs in the perinatal period.

2. Define advocacy-centered communal care and describe how this approach can address the specific challenges of marginalized individuals.

3. List three strategies beyond talk therapy that allow you to compassionately engage with marginalized clients to support them from second trimester through the first two years postpartum.

Course Level: Intermediate.

Presenter: eunique deeann, euni (she/they), is a Trauma-Informed Embodiment Facilitator, Energy Healer + Reiki Practitioner, Intimacy + Connection Guide, Postpartum Researcher, Caretender, Chef, Community Organizer, Full Spectrum Reproductive Advocate, Artist, and Writer. euni works with women, men, and queer/non-binary individuals and couples on integration and aftercare centering (re)embodiment through transitions.
