PHA Presents: Eating Disorders and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, supporting the needs of perinatal women with eating disorders
PHA is excited to host Crystal Karges, MS, RDN, IBCLC, Maternal Health/Child Feeding Specialist, for this workshop that focuses on supporting eating disorder concerns in the perinatal population.
Target Audience: Licensed psychologists and therapists, graduate students, allied mental health professionals, other providers who work with new parents and families.
Learning Objectives:
This workshop is designed to help you:
1. Identify risk factors and prevalence rates of eating disorders in women during the perinatal period.
2. Describe the prevalence of the psychiatric comorbidity of eating disorders and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders for perinatal women.
3. Develop appropriate treatment goals and interventions for women with eating disorders during pregnancy and postpartum.
Course Level: Intermediate.
Presenter: Crystal Karges, MS. RDN, IBCLC is a Master’s-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and Nutritional Therapist. In her San Diego based private practice, Crystal offers specialized nutrition counseling for maternal and perinatal eating disorders, body image healing, prenatal and postpartum wellness, pediatric health and child feeding strategies, and breastfeeding consultations. Combining her experience and expertise as an eating disorder dietitian and in maternal and child health, Crystal provides comprehensive online nutrition counseling and support that empowers women to confidently nourish themselves and their families throughout the motherhood journey, cultivate a positive body image, and live freely in a peaceful relationship with food. Through a weight inclusive framework, Crystal is committed to providing effective, compassionate, and evidenced based nutrition care to mothers and families across San Diego county and worldwide through her online blog and virtual nutrition coaching practice.
Continuing Education Credits
1.5 CEs will be available for participants who attend this event live via Zoom. Please select the CE ticket type to register for CEs.
The Postpartum Health Alliance is approved by the California Psychological Association (CPA) to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. The Postpartum Health Alliance maintains responsibility for this program and its content. CPA CE credit is accepted by the Board of Behavioral Sciences for their licensees. If you are an out-of-state participant, please check with your licensing board to ensure they accept CPA CEs.
To earn CE credits, you must appear on camera so we can verify attendance, take the post-workshop evaluation survey, and provide your license number to PHA.
This workshop has been approved by Postpartum Support International for CE credits for maintaining PMH certification.
Start and End Times: Workshop will begin promptly at 11 am and conclude at 12:30 pm PT. No breaks are scheduled.
Attendance Policy: CE Credit and Certificates will not be issued to those who arrive later than 15 minutes or leave early from any course scheduled time. This policy is strictly enforced to ensure compliance with CPA guidelines. CE participants cameras must be on for a majority of the time. If you do not appear on camera, CEs will not be awarded since PHA must verify attendance per California Psychological Association.
