Event description

Description

Melissa Averinos will be joining us in September for an all day workshop to teach us more about her process of Making Faces with fabric! In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques, starting with a comprehensive drawing lesson to get you comfortable with the proportions of a face. Then you will transfer your drawing to fabric, creating a collage-style face!

Topics covered will include:

Fabric choices (prints vs. solids, etc)
Gluing options
Discussion about how variations in size, shape, and style of the features can create limitless options for your face collage

Workshop fee includes lunch! Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions so that we can accomodate: pghmqg.programs@gmail.com

You can learn more about Melissa on her website and her Instagram feed, @melissaaverinos! Be sure to check out her award-winner quilt, My Brother's Jeans, which won Best of Show at QuiltCon in 2016.

Note: Melissa's book, Making Faces in Fabric, is not a requirement for the workshop. She will have books available at the workshop to purchase if you would like to do so.

The supply list will be sent out at a later date.

This is a non-sewing workshop.
