PGCE Selection Day - Wednesday 12th November

Our PGCE Selection Days are designed to be the first step of what will hopefully go on to be a positive, successful PGCE year for you. You will have an opportunity to get to know some of the academic tutors, see the main building your university sessions will take place in and meet some of your potential fellow trainees.

What to Expect

The day will be made up of:

• A one-to-one interview with one of our academic tutors about your application.
• A written activity to help identify areas of subject knowledge we can support you with.
• An opportunity to explore the campus.
• An opportunity to meet other PGCE applicants and tutors.

What to Bring

If you are successful on the selection day, we would like to be able to make you a conditional offer as soon as possible.

To help us do so, please bring the following with you on the day:

• The original certificates for the following qualifications: GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics (as well as GCSE Science, if applying for Primary PGCE) or equivalent qualification certificates if international.

• The original certificate of your degree if you have already graduated (you do not need to bring anything if you have not graduated yet).

• If you are on the DBS update service, please bring your DBS certificate. You will need to fill in a consent form on your selection day so that we can verify this. Your DBS certificate must be for the 'Child Workforce' and 'Enhanced'.
  
  If you are not on the DBS update service, we do not need to see your certificate, you will be requested to obtain a new one prior to starting the course.

• The originals of two forms of ID, one of which must be photographic. These can include: Passport; UK driving license; marriage certificate; full birth certificate; P45/P60; EU National ID card or BRP.

Before the Day

On the Friday before your interview, you will receive an email with further information about the day. This will include:

• An introductory video to our PGCE courses to ensure you have as much information as possible regarding the course before your interview.
  
• A guide on the topics that will be discussed during your 1-1 interview, to help you feel as prepared and relaxed as possible.

• An online Mathematics subject audit, to be completed before your selection day. This is so our tutors can identify if there are any areas of your subject knowledge they can help you with over the duration of the course.

• Details of how to upload your ID and certificates on to our online 'MyStudentRecord' system. Please have digital PDF copies of your IDs and certificates prepared for this and title these 'SURNAME forename - ID name e.g., Driver's License' when uploading.

• A reminder of what to bring.

Cancellations/Reschedules

If you need to cancel your place on a selection day, please contact us as soon as possible at pgcerecruitment@leicester.ac.uk as soon as possible. Please note, you will only be permitted to reschedule your place twice.
