THEME:

Optimizing Safety through Functional Movement Training

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) identifies poor movement patterns that can be addressed and improved through appropriate corrective exercises.

Functional movement training has been called the “it” exercise and the “exercise of the future.”  With functional training, you train muscles to work with each other, which helps better prepare the body to perform tasks on the fireground more safely and with lower risk of injury. The focus of the training is on making common daily movements easier as opposed to a focus on weight loss or body appearance.

In this workshop, be ready to participate!  You will learn more about the importance of functional training, go through an actual functional movement screen, learn corrective exercises and experience the use of sandbag training to improve functional movement.
