Event description
A series of one hour, virtual community forums to collect your feedback on our strategic plan draft components.

About this Event

The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) is convening a series of one hour, virtual community forums to collect your feedback on our strategic plan’s draft components.

It’s critical we hear from, and engage with you about how we can strengthen Washington’s educator workforce, and better support student success. Registration is limited, so please RSVP at your earliest convenience. Registration links will close on September 1.

Session information

Each one hour session will focus on a specific area of the educator career continuum. There is no limit on how many sessions you can register for, but you must register for each one individually. During these sessions, you will engage with PESB staff, board members, and community members in both small and large group settings to help inform PESB’s focus areas, goals, identify barriers, and guide future policy work as it relates to the career continuum area.

  • 9 to 10 a.m. | Access and identify: Educator candidates are exploring pathways to a career in education. RSVP to attend this session.
  • 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. | Prepare: Preparation programs are developing candidates to meet and exceed educator standards. RSVP to attend this session.
  • 1 to 2 p.m. | Place: Students are receiving instruction and services from properly credentialed educators. RSVP to attend this session.
  • 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. | Retain: Educators are engaged in a fulfilling and supportive work environment. RSVP to attend this session.
  • 4 to 5 p.m. | Growth and transition: Educators are advancing their career, and enhancing their professional skills. RSVP to attend this session.
  • So that you are equipped with the background and knowledge of each continuum area, we will send out a pre-forum folder with materials for you to review in advance. We hope these resources will serve as a valuable tool to prepare and support you in session dialogue. We anticipate sending this folder to registered participants at least two weeks prior to the event.

If you have a disability and require special assistance or accommodations, please contact us at pesb@k12.wa.us or 360-725-6275 informing us of what requirements are needed for you to fully participate. Requests should be made as soon as possible but at least seven business days prior to the forums.

Background

In July 2019, members from both the Paraeducator Board and the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) began working on their 2021-25 strategic plan. Our four year strategic plan helps us determine long-term goals, actions we will take to reach them, and key performance indicators to help monitor progress. A draft outline of the plan, including a new mission, vision, value words, guiding principles, and educator career continuum goals and definitions can be seen on our website.
