Perspectives from Recovery Residences: Adapting for MAT and Other Recovery Pathways

About this Event

Join our online webinar to learn about supporting people who are prescribed with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as they pursue a life in recovery. This webinar will provide an overview of an issue that many recovery housing operators are facing: the complexities of providing services to individuals prescribed with MAT while seeking to support the many residents and staff who may have had negative experiences with or have negative perceptions of MAT.

We will:

  • Hear a variety of opinions from expert facilitators and participants
  • Explore when a residence should take applicants who are prescribed with MAT
  • Examine the impact that a change in philosophy has on staff, residents, and the community

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate when and if a residence should change to include individuals who are prescribed with MAT
  • Identify ways to foster a house culture that is inclusive of MAT along with other recovery pathways
  • Identify strategies that are responsive to resident and staff concerns about MAT

Webinar Facilitators:

  • Jason Howell is a person in long-term recovery with a Masters in Business Administration. He is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and a Certified Peer Supervisor. Jason opened his first recovery home in 2008. Today, he is Executive Director of RecoveryPeople and has contributed to numerous published journal articles on recovery housing. Jason serves on the Texas Behavioral Health Advisory Council, SAMHSA CSAT National Advisory Council, and the Board of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR).
