It is a Scoutmaster Bucky policy to limit Scouts to one Eagle-required merit badge per Scoutmaster Bucky event / weekend. Please understand that this is due to many factors, including but not limited to, Eagle badges usually have a higher level of complexity in order to prepare for the requirements completion, there is a high demand for Eagle required badges and we want everyone to have a chance to sign up for at least one when more than one is offered, and the Scoutmaster Bucky program is about providing opportunitities, NOT about taking away the signifigance or minimlaizing the integrity required to complete each and every merit badge; especially Eagle required ones. Scoutmaster Bucky reserves the right to cancel individuals' registrations that do not adhere to the "one Eagle-required merit badge per weekend" policy.
You will have two options to choose from when signing up for this opportunity.
Option A: Sign up and attend this class and bring your course required completed work and get ready to work it out. At the end of the class you SHOULD have everything done except requirement 8 (completing your 12 week physical fitness program)
PLEASE NOTE: The 12 week physical fitness program can NOT be done prior to this class. The 12 week period will start upon the completion of this class.
Option B: Sign up and attend this class and bring your course required completed work and get ready to work it out. Come back to the Scoutmaster Bucky Personal Fitness Follow Up Days (dates and locations will be provided in the class - as well as emails notifying you of these opportunities throughout the year) however the first one Scouts are eligible for in this class is at the 2017 March Scoutmaster Bucky Merit Badge Day where we will have a follow up opportunity during the lunch period on that Saturday. Come back and go thru the completion classes where you will show the tracking documentation of your 12 week physical fitness program and complete your final assessment testing and data analysis.
Option A: This class only (no follow up)
Option B: This class plus final assessment testing with data analysis class (this follow up class will be about an hour in length) first opportunity will be at the 2017 March Scoutmaster Bucky Day in Oakdale with additional opportunities in the late spring and early summer - times yet to be determined.
It is YOUR responsibility to do the preparation work. Remember the Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared" and for Scoutmaster Bucky events that is not a request, that is an expectation.
One requirement that is often neglected is the reading of the merit badge pamphlet (which contains most of the answers). Scouts MUST read the merit badge pamphlet AND bring the pamphlet with them to the class.
It is suggested that Scouts consider using a workbook found on the internet (MeritBadge.org has the best selection and most current workbooks) in conjunction with the Scoutmaster Bucky Class Preparation Page (found as a link near the listing on the home page where you aregistered for this class). These have been put together to aid you in successfully making the most out of this opportunity. Utilizing these resources will make a significant impact on the timeliness, ease, and effort required to complete this merit badge. Failure to prepare properly and/or use these resources will result in a lower effectiveness and completion amount at the class. In cases where there is no workbook or Class Preparation Page, Scouts should still review the requirements and prepare as best they can for the class.
Please go to ScoutmasterBucky.com for any additional questions or clarifications. Class Preparation Pages as well as Scoutmaster Bucky Workbooks (if available) and Class Preparation Pages can be found on the individual Merit Badge pages listed on the Merit Badge Index page (found in the menu on the left hand side of the web site) Also check the registration box on the main page for the upcoming class for links to these items if available.
Class ending time is approximate and may vary slightly based on the dynamics of the Scouts and the counselor. Scoutmaster Bucky Refund Policy states that there will be no refunds anytime after one week prior to the class.
