Personal Finance 2: Moving to NYC-Financially Accessible for Many- ii Salon
Event Information
About this Event
Are you moving somewhere new in 2021?
Do you want to?
If you’re planning a move, as many people seem to be, you’ve likely found yourself staring at your laptop or phone at 3am, trying to get accurate information about costs of living, amenities, and more. Whether you’re a rural dreamer looking for a new life in the big city, or a San Franciscan dreaming of Miami, everyone is welcome to come and share their moving stories and wisdom.
We’ll open the salon with moving stories--what went well, what was surprising, what would you warn others against? And then we’ll be tackling the moving-information problem head-on, and we’ll be using New York City as a case study.
We’ll go beyond the YouTube videos and cost-of-living calculators you’ve likely found online, and we’ll examine the actual, on-the-ground cost and quality of life in America’s most populous city. The epistemic tactics deployed here will serve you well regardless of your ultimate destination.
Come prepared to have your preconceived notions about NYC turned upside down (it’s more affordable than you think) by your host, Manhattan resident Daniel Golliher.
