This class meets Mondays, Nov. 14 - Dec 19 from 6:00-7:30pm
Participants will learn over a period of 6 weeks, how to draft idea, deal with characterization, how to write dialogue, how to evoke imagery and setting, the importance of word choice, and how to write taking advantage of reflection and emotion. Handouts that include the work of famous essayists, short lecture and discussion, writing prompts and writing time, and optional oral reading will be included. Participants should come to class with a pen or pencil and paper, and will leave the class with several written essays of 250-500 words. This class is perfect for anyone wishing to write about personal experiences of joy, laughter, sadness, loss, observation, motivation, work, sport, and so on. Writers of all levels are welcome. Taught by memoirist, essayist and former journalist Carolyn Walker.
