Event description
Danish Astrophysicist Dr. Sarah Pearson is Randy Cohen's guest as part of the Person Place Thing, 500 Women Scientists Series.

About this Event

Dr. Sarah Pearson is a Danish astrophysicist who received her PhD from Columbia University in June 2018, where she specialized in colliding galaxies and dark matter. Motivated by her passion for science communication, Sarah started the initiative "Space with Sarah" sharing knowledge on our Universe through short videos on YouTube. Sarah also portrays her every-day life as a scientist on social media (@spacewsarah)with goals of breaking “who is a scientist”-stereotypes and inspire young women to pursue science careers. Following her PhD Sarah is continuing exploring our Universe as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Flatiron Institute in NYC.

Person Place Thing is an interview show hosted by Randy Cohen, original NY Times Ethicist columnist, based on the idea that people are particularly engaging when they speak, not directly about themselves, but about something they care about. His guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing that are important to them. This event, the first of three conversations with women scientists at KGB Bar’s Red Room, features music from jazz singer Lauren Lee. It will be recorded for broadcast on Northeast Public Radio. https://personplacething.org
