Description

In the second part of the Momentum on Main Street series, you will learn all about permits and navigating City Hall. Abby Powell, TIF Manager for the City of Springfield, will explain who you need to know and where you need to go when it comes to City Hall.

Presenters:
Chris Cole, AIA
Battalion Chief, Springfield Fire Department
Chris Cole, AIA is a Battalion Chief with the Springfield Fire Department and has worked in the Operations, Training and Fire Safety Divisions during his 19 years with the department. Chris is currently assigned to the Fire Safety Division where his duties include fire and life safety plan review, routine fire inspections, certificate of occupancy inspections, fire cause and origin investigation and fire operations related reviews of large scale developments in the Springfield area. Chris completed his formal architectural education at SIU-Carbondale in 1992, and has worked in related fields and traditional architectural firms over the course of the last 26 years.

Todd M. Oliver, Division Manager,
Department of Business Licensing and Liquor Commission
Todd started working for CWLP as a Lake Security Officer in 1985 after 15 years he transferred to the City side as a License Inspector over Business Licensing doing inspections in business’s which hold city Liquor Licenses, Coin operated devices, florist, Taxi, locations.

Abby Powell, Operations Coordinator
City of Springfield
Abby grew up steeped in local government, and tested the waters with a couple of internships and part-time gigs at the Town of Normal. She escaped the Midwest, and government work, for a few years in sunny Florida, working in sales. Deciding that wasn’t the life for her, she returned to the center of the country – first to Indiana, then Kentucky, finally settling back in Illinois. Abby holds a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. At the City, Abby primarily manages Springfield’s TIF districts.

Kyle Quinn, Community Programs Specialist
City of Springfield
Kyle was born and raised in Genoa, Illinois and received his education from Illinois State University where he achieved a Masters in Politics and Government. Kyle has 5 years of experience in construction as well as experience with community engagement, a combination that led him to pursue employment with the City of Springfield’s Office of Planning and Economic Development.

Matthew R. Wolf, AIA, LEED AP, CBO
Planning Coordinator, City of Springfield
Matt is the current Planning Coordinator for the City of Springfield, in the Department of Building and Zoning and was previously the Plans Examiner. Before coming to work for the City, he was a Project manager for Melotte Morse Leonatti and Parker, Ltd, and Project Architect/VP of Production with Image Architects. Matt looks forward to providing guidance on how to navigate the permit process.
