Permit Required Confined Space Entry – Trenching and Excavation Safety 6 TCH’s
Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities contain many confined spaces which can be dangerous to treatment plant personnel to enter. How do we inventory and determine which spaces are dangerous and which are not? This course will teach attendees how to inventory confined spaces and determine if they are “Permit required Confined Spaces” or “Confined spaces”.
Attendees will learn:
• How to determine if the space is safe to enter – How to make the space safe to enter.
• Dangers of confined spaces and safe entry procedures
• Permit required confined space safety equipment
• How to enter a permit required confined space and how to use the required safety equipment required to enter permit spaces
• Rescue planning becomes the priority in permit required confined space entry and ensures that no one gets injured or becomes a fatality
Trenching and excavation is a necessary part of the job for most water and wastewater operators – distribution and collection personnel. New personnel are most vulnerable to getting injured or even becoming a fatality if they are not trained in the dangers before attempting to work in or near a trench.
Attendees will learn:
• How to recognize the dangers associated with trench and excavations
• Safety practices of trenching and excavations
• Safety equipment required
