Event description

Description

Who: Volunteers of all ages are welcome; children under 13 require an accompanying adult unless prior approval is obtained from the workday supervisor. For groups of 5 or more, please contact Erin Banks Rusby, erin AT grassrootsecology DOT org before signing up.

What: Volunteers will help with habitat restoration by installing native plants, removing invasive fennel and smilo grass, and sheet mulching along Permanente Creek, north of Amphitheatre Parkway.

Where to meet: We will be meeting near the red Permanente Creek pedestrian bridge on Google campus, halfway between Charleston Avenue and Amphitheatre Parkway, but please note that this is not where we will be working that day. We will meet at this location and walk north on the Permanente Creek Trail, past Amphitheatre parkway, toward the bay to get to the location of the restoration site. Latecomers can call Erin on her cell phone, 650-382-2314, if you have trouble finding us, but on time arrival to the meeting point is preferred!

Parking: Free parking is available at any of the parking lots near the intersection of Charleston Rd. and Alta Ave. in Mountain View or along Amphitheatre Parkway. Parking is available in the Google lot for Buildings 41, 42 and 43, (near Charleston and Alta, but also accessible from Amphitheatre Parkway) and the Permanente Creek Trail is nearest to this parking lot.

Please bring: A reusable water bottle, sun protection (hat and/or sunscreen) and dress for outdoor work (sturdy shoes and long pants recommended, please wear clothes that you won't mind getting dirty). We provide gloves, tools, and snacks.
