Event description

Description

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders affect around 18% of all women nationally and at least 13% of Utah mothers. Well-researched but often misunderstood by clinicians, these illnesses are related to an increased risk of suicide, poor birth and neonatal outcomes, and long-term negative effects on child and maternal mental health.

Join with us as Amy-Rose White, an therapist working with perinatal women and couples in private practice and the founder of the Utah Maternal Mental Health Collaborative, covers the basics of prevalence, the unique symptomatology of disorders in the perinatal period, as well as information on screening tools, assessment protocols, and the unique treatment needs of perinatal women and families. Attendees will emerge with a basic understanding of how to screen women as well as appropriate response protocols and concrete interventions.

This training is available to you at no cost, thanks to Help Me Grow Utah, Early Childhood Utah and the Office of Home Visiting. Lunch will be provided.
