Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders: Screening, Treatment & Prevention

Perinatal Mental Health disorders are extremely common and impact not only moms, but child development and families. Left untreated, depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum can have devastating effects for everyone. However, with support, these disorders are very treatable. Join us to learn about how to prevent, screen and treat Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

Location: Holiday Inn, Long Beach Airport, 2640 North Lakewood Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90815

Parking:  Onsite Parking Complimentary; however, parking is limited with the parking lot under construction - car-pooling is advised.

Check-in, continental breakfast begin at 8:30am; Training from 9:00am - 4:00pm

At the end of the training

1.   Participants will describe 5 common symptoms of perinatal anxiety.

2.   Participants will describe 5 common symptoms of perinatal depression.

3.   Participants will identify 4 risk factors indicating that a caregiver with a perinatal or postpartum mood disorder should be referred for further evaluation and treatment.

4.   Participants will learn 3 cultural factors to consider in evaluating and treating women in the perinatal period.

5.   Participants will learn 3 successful interventions to consider for treatment.

6.   Participants will be able to identify 2 benefits of universal screening and learn how to speak to women and families about perinatal mental health.

Continuing Education Credits: up to 6 credits available for PSY, MFT, and LCSW's

APA: Children’s Institute, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Children’s Institute, Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  The California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) now recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal for LCSWs and MFTs.



By registering for this training the agency is liable for the CE fee, which is fully refundable up to August 10, 2018. Registration is transferrable prior to the start of the training.  Once the training begins, fees are non-refundable/transferrable and no partial refunds will be given.
