No refunds, no exceptions.
The Luxor Stage is on the top floor and has 11' ceiling clearance
The Valley of The Kings Stage has 9' ceiling clearance
August 1st – 15th applications are open to MECDA members only.
After August 15th, applications will be open to the general public.

All questions on the application must be completed.
Any incomplete applications will not be given a slot. The performance coordinators will contact you and you will have 72 hrs. to complete your application and resend it.
Time slots are given on a first come, first serve basis.
Online applications are accepted in order based on when the application was completed on line.
We will use the postmark on the envelope for mailed, paper applications.
When the performance coordinators receives a COMPLETED application, the performance will be put on the schedule and a tentative day and time will be sent to the applicant.
Paper applications are available to down load from the MECDA website.
Paper applications must be complete to be considered for scheduling. The Performance Coordinators will call the performer in the event that the application is incomplete. At that time, the performer will need to re-submit a new, properly and completely, filled out application.
Because we get more requests to perform than we have spots, NO dancer will be scheduled to perform in more than one spot. While it is unfortunate, we must ask that if you are both a solo dancer and a member of a troupe, you select only one of these to perform in. Perhaps your solo could be worked into the troupe’s allotted time? Your cooperation will help us ensure that a greater number of dancers and musicians will also be given this same opportunity to perform. Applying to perform does not guarantee you a spot.
NO recording or videoing while there are performances on the stage.
This includes cell phones and behaviors deemed to appear like videotaping.
Violators may be escorted from Cairo Caravan for ignoring this policy. Performers are responsible for notifying their friends and family that still photography ONLY is allowed and that they may not videotape your performance.
DVD's of your performance will be available to the performer only, however, MECDA reserves the right to use video from the event for promotional and advertising purposes. Contracts to pre-order your performance video will be sent with your performance confirmation/time.
Part of your application process is to prepay for your admission into the show for one day (the day of your performance). THESE ARE PERFORMANCE DISCOUNT ONLY RATES. You may not sign up family members, friends, or any other persons not dancing at Cairo Caravan. Performers caught purchasing tickets for non-performers will be removed from the schedule and will not be asked back to dance again. Please, make checks payable to: MECDA for paper applications. If you are a MECDA member there is an even greater discount. Preadmission sales for performers will be closed on April 1st.
If you are volunteering you will be contacted by the volunteer coordinator.
If you back out of volunteering your application will be considered as void and your dance slot will be given to another applicant.
If you are applying for a troupe, you can either apply for the entire troupe at once or you can apply for yourself only, thus leaving your troupe members to put in their own individual applications. MECDA is not responsible for troupe members who do not apply by the deadline.
All troupe members need to have applied by April 1st.
All troupe members who do not apply by April 1st will pay full price at the door, $18 for their admission (price is for non-members).
Please make sure everyone in the troupe registers under the same “performance name” or the performance coordinators will not know you are a Troupe! MECDA is not responsible for troupes that do not fill out their application properly. The troupe leader is responsible for getting all of the appropriate information to their troupe. Every troupe will have ONE point of contact for our Performance Coordinators. All information will be sent to the POC. It is the POC’s responsibility to get all of the necessary information to their troupe.
Only the troupe leader, or contact person for the troupe should email the performance coordinator. Any other members of the troupe contacting the performance coordinator will be referred to talk to the troupe leader.
Cairo Caravan 2011 had just under 200 performances and over 700 performers! Please help limit email traffic, only one contact per troupe!
The participant agrees to protect, indemnify, defend and hold harmless MECDA, Save the Queen, LLC dba The Queen Mary and the City of Long Beach, and their respective employees and agents against all claims, losses, or damages to persons or property, governmental charges or fines, costs, including reasonable Attorney’s fees, arising out of or connected with your performance, except those claims arising out of the sole negligence to the Hotel.
