Event description

Description

The most common advice given to performers is usually wrong:

"You've got to have a thick skin."
"If you enjoy anything else, do that instead."
"Don't ever let them see you sweat."
"Fake it till you make it."
"It's all about confidence."

The truth is that mastering any kind of art, be it on stage or off, comes down to being real, raw, and vulnerable, and using your emotions to inform your art. Toughening up doesn't create strength, it's a fear-based approach to hiding our truth, which is the opposite of what creates brilliant art. So, what creates the emotional resilience we need to stay focused, passionate, and connected to our craft? Our Undeniable Why.

Every artist has an Undeniable Why — that heart-fire that compels you to make art and to pursue a career in the arts against the odds (and your grandmother’s fear that you’ll starve). We know for sure that when you’re clear on your Why and use that as your compass, you’ll be a happier, healthier, and more successful actor, vocalist, musician and perfomer.

- You truly can audition for college (or other) programs while feeling excited rather than terrified. And you can know for sure which schools are worthy of being hired by you.

- You deserve to ace your first Broadway chorus call (or regional theatre or school theatre audition) and call it a success no matter what casting thinks or says.

- You must answer that itch to make your own musical or web series or novella, rather than waiting for someone else to give you permission to create!

In this interactive, transformative master class, every participant will perform a song or monologue of their choice.

Acting, Mindset and Performance Coach Maggie Hollinbeck and Music Career Mastermind owner Melissa Mulligan will guide you through exploratory exercises and mindset adjustments that are connected you to your Undeniable Why and will give you tools to trade in performance anxiety for performance magic, artistic freedom and joy.

This master class is recommended for vocalists, actors, musical theatre students, singer-songwriters and recording artists. Recommended ages 12 and up. Other ages, please inquire: mymmvs@gmail.com
