Come experience an evening of storytelling and the powerful work of Say Word Poets and internationally renowned poets that helped lead the way for spoken word and arts education. We invite you to explore what makes us home to LA youth. Drinks, Music, Performances, and an interactive journey that puts the heart of people first.

Kat Magill is a HBO Def Poet and performed alongside artist such as Iyanla Vanzant, Claudia Rankine, Grammy Award winner Ryan Lesli, Hip Hop Legend Mos Def, singer and song writer Raheem Devaughn, Latin Grammy award winning Ozomatli and spoke alongside of Whitney Thompson winner of America's Next top model (10th cycle). Kat is a 2 time finalist in the PSI National Poetry slam and has earned numerous grand slam titles, including west coast regional champion before retiring from the world of slam to coach. Kat founded Say Word in 2012 and shortly after authored a nationally utilized spoken word high school curriculum. She is one of the most sought after spoken word education consultants throughout California and plans to do so much more. www.katmagill.com

Say Word Slam Team ranked in the top 6 teams out of 60 teams internationally at 2017 Brave New Voices, performing in front of 10,000 people last summer. Members of the Say Word team have attended colleges such as Berkeley, Sarah Lawrence, Emerson, AMDA, Brown and the list goes on. Performing with John Legend in Marvin Gaye Tribute, All Def Digital, The Royal Shakespeare Company in London, Peace over Violence and more constantly contributing to their community.

Def Sound (Say Word Resident DJ) a published poet, songwriter, Brownswood Bubbler, designer, cooking instructor, educator, and world traveled DJ. His mom given birth name Emmanuel Ricketts hails from Los Angeles, California the boy from South Central that found signal started his journey in 2007 as a spoken word artist.
