About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours
We, as humans, need community, but before community we need to commune.”- Nora Bateson

Join us for a series of three gentle, spacious, online conversations for anyone curious about how we live, learn and care — together.

Imagine sitting in a virtual room with others from around the globe, swapping thoughts and stories about the world we’re all trying to make sense of. You don’t need to be an expert — just someone willing to listen, reflect and share.

An online version of Nora Bateson’s Warm Data Labs, each People Need People session explores a question through our shared stories and conversations; we wander through the deeper patterns and multiple contexts that shape our lives and relationships.

There’s no pressure to perform, debate or fix anything. Just simple, meaningful conversation that flows — like the chats you wish you had more often but rarely do.

This is not a workshop. It’s not about taking notes or ticking boxes. It’s about slowing down and making space for connection — a meadow of conversation where fresh insights and relationships can quietly take root.

A co-created experience

People Need People is a co-created experience that emerges in the beginning, comes alive, and composts into the social soil at the end. Think of it like the best after-dinner conversation you’ve ever had – with people you haven’t met before. It will not be recorded.

Who can I be when I’m with you? Who can you be when you’re with me?” - Nora Bateson

“An antidote to social media”- previous participant

“A rare space where people really hear each other”- previous participant

“There will be no community without first communing”

— Nora Bateson

Warm Data is the relational information that describes the many parts of a system. For example, to understand a family, one must understand not only the family members but also the relationships between them, the context they reside in, the ecosystem that shapes them and that is, in turn, shaped by them –that is, the warm data. Warm Data familiarizes groups of people with the ways in which the contexts of their lives marinate and overlap into each other, and it offers an introduction to the complexity of their own lives so that they may better see the complexity of others. Through this discovery, people begin to see how vital it is to tend to their families, communities, and the land, and they are able to respond to emergencies with warmth.

At times Warm Data is also described more simply as: Information that is alive.

Is it possible to respond to the living world without information that is also alive?

These events are run by our community of Warm Data Hosts trained in the practices of Warm Data by the International Bateson Institute and Nora Bateson.

No two events are the same!
