What will they teach?

Safety Pin Swallow Scott’s take on a version of the timeless Razor Blades or Needles from the mouth. This one is not only extremely deceptive, but also super easy to make at home with stuff you probably have lying around.

Apple Jacked Scott shows you an alternative routine with his version of Gene Elmo’s "Silk in Apple," and goes over some of the fine points of the routine. This is great for all audiences, from kids to the most skeptical adults. Its a real fooler!

Mexican Paper Tear Scott tips the work on his diabolical version of the Leipzig Cigarette Paper Tear. This is a funny routine packed with jokes and one-liners but is really a powerhouse, pack small, play big effect.

Musicallity Scott discusses ideas for effectively choosing and using music in your act. He talks about how music can really inform your magic and stage presence. Demonstrating a simple Linking Ring routine to three different pieces of music, Scott illustrates and comments on how each one is becomes different, just by the song choices. He follows this up with a performance of his CARD TUNES routine, which uses several different songs, and allows you to see how music can instantly spark memories, emotions and feelings.

Crack Date This is Scott’s irreverent and funny fusion of Al Koran’s "Gold Medallion" and TA Waters "Back Date.” With a prediction that ends up in the most unlikely of places. Imagine if Derek Zoolander was a mentalist!

Cake in Hat Scott’s out of the box twist on the classic Al Baker “Baking a Cake in a Hat" is one that you will use for your kid shows or birthday party gigs. It takes the magician in trouble syndrome to a new level and makes the kid the hero. It has a huge, surprise production at the end as the cake vanishes, which leaves the kids screaming and laughing out loud!

White Russian Roulette Famous for his Russian Roulette routines, “Shattered" and "Nailed It," Scott once again dips in to that well and comes up with a bucketful of fun. This is a non-lethal, but heavily consequence filled routine that pits your cel phone against a spectators, all to win a “fabulous prize.” The ending is one they do not see coming, and revives a long dead classic effect of magic that is electric!

Thought Toon Scott’s newest release with Penguin Magic will debut on the lecture. "Thought Toon" is a spin off of Dan Harlan’s "Card Toon," but the card can reveal ANYTHING the spectator names. The prediction court be, numbers, letters, initials, names or anything your imagination can conjure up. As the spectators watch what they think is a silly little trick, they soon realize you are about to sock them right between the eyes with an impossible revelation of something they just thought of. It is mental magic at its best!

Who are they?

Scott’s magic reached millions on NBC’s season six of America’s Got Talent where he advanced all the way with his large stage illusions. With articles in People Magazine and Nations Business, the Oprah Show took notice and Scott was invited by Oprah Winfrey to make a guest appearance on her show. Scott had the honor of headlining on the Las Vegas Strip at Caesars Palace for over seven years and four thousand performances of large grand illusions fused with stand-up comedy magic. Scott’s magic has been featured on Penn and Teller’s “Fool Us” on the CW, The Sify Channel, Discovery Channel and NBC. Scott has appeared in Paris on the world class and prestigious Le Grand Plus Cabaret Du Monde. Whether it be the intimacy of a close-up sleight of hand performance, stand up comedy magic, or the all out spectacle of a large stage show, Scott Alexander’s delivery is always lighthearted, somewhat irreverent, amazing, quick-witted and sure to leave you filled with wonder and laughter.

Dan Harlan was born in Fremont, Ohio to parents whom dabbled in theatre and entertainment. He was involved in community theatre with his parents as a child and made is stage debut when he was only two years old. His mother was a magician's assistant before he was born, giving him his first taste of magic by pulling coins out his ears. Harlan was inspired by touring magicians performing at his grade school. He also admired his grade school principle who was an amateur magician who belonged to a local IBM magic ring.

When he was nine, a classmate of his performed a magic trick which peaked young Harlan's curiosity as to how he could learn such an effect. his classmate steered him to the local library, and Dan checked out every book on magic he could get his hands on. By the time Harlan was 12, he was already creating unique magic effects and routines. He even built his own props out of cardboard boxes. Harlan was heavily influenced by popular mathematics and science writer, Martin Gardner, and delved into the mathematical aspects of magic and how it expanded his thoughts in the creative process of inventing magic.

Since then, Harlan has created numerous popular magic effects, including "Card-Toon," "Hold It Buster!," Starcle;" and "The awakening" to name a few. Constantly inventing new and exciting magic, Harlan's current lecture contains something from all of his latest releases, brand new routines, and a few of his most-requested classics. Harlan has made a few TV appearances nationally and internationally, plus he’s worked behind-the-scenes as a consultant for many other top professionals, including Jeff McBride, Kevin James, Keith Barry, and David Copperfield. He’s also starred in numerous instructional magic videos, including Bandshark, The Close-Up Magic of Dan Harlan, Magic With Rubberbands (3 Vols), Pack Small Play Big (9 Vols), Premium Blend (6 Vols), Ultimate Impromptu (3 Vols), Mindbogglers (4 Vols), The Minotaur DVD set.

Harlan has performed in just about every conceivable type of venue for audiences of all ages from Close-Up to Stage, Kid’s Shows to Corporate, Comedy Clubs to Concerts, and he continues to be one of the most requested magical teachers in the world. He was hired by Neil Strauss, Best Selling Author of “The Game,” to give a private seminar on Bar Bets and Con Games for one of his events. Harlan continues to create magic effects, produce tutorial DVD's and lecture across the nation and abroad.

And, most importantly, Dan has been the host for Penguin LIVE for many, many years and continues to be one of the most creative and innovative magicians in the world!
