Description

Volunteer at Penelope’s Place domestic violence shelter! Volunteers at our shelter make a big impact by:

  • Spending 2 hours/week or bi-weekly at the shelter
  • Providing fun, age-appropriate play activities such as art projects, dramatic play, board games, etc. for children of all ages
  • Creating a safe, trauma-informed environment for children
  • Facilitating educational or therapeutic workshops for parents such as crafts, cooking, reading, exercising, or learning a valuable skill
  • Supporting parents with general childcare

About Penelope's Place: We offer emergency shelter for families and individuals fleeing domestic violence. At Penelope’s Place, our 5+ bedroom domestic violence shelter, we provide survivors with safety, security, and comfort. In addition to being a warm and welcoming home, at Penelope’s Place we provide comprehensive, coordinated care for survivors of violence and their children. We offer innovative, creative, and collaborative solutions to assist families in improving their health and well-being, breaking the cycles of violence, and ensuring their future stability.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

  • Complete and submit Volunteer/Intern Application
  • Complete CORI/SORI form
  • Attend Training
  • Attend a Volunteer Interview
  • Begin volunteering
  • Volunteer Coordinator will check in periodically to ensure volunteer satisfaction and offer support
  • Volunteers must be 18+ years old and able to commit to 6 months of volunteering.
