Event description

Description

A five-week training course for people who would like to co-facilitate our new drop-in mental wellbeing sessions.

Venue: Woodhouse Community Centre, 197 Woodhouse Street, Leeds LS6 2NY

Dates: Tuesdays 1pm - 3pm for five weeks starting 13th June 2017

Who it’s for

The course is for people who have been on one of our Head Space, Mindmate Families or Getting Back on Top courses and are interested in co-facilitating one of our new peer-support groups. It will be useful to anyone interested in a career in mental wellbeing, group work or training.

Payments and expenses

There is no charge for this course and we can pay travel expenses for any volunteers. Please note that you will be training for a voluntary position as a co-facilitator of one of our drop-in groups. There are no payments involved other than travel expenses.

What you will get out of it

Facilitating sessions and knowing that you’ve been a part of something that changes people’s lives is a fantastic feeling. But it can also be challenging, frustrating, upsetting and nerve-wracking. This course will show you some tried-and-tested techniques for making groups run smoothly, building your confidence and looking after your own wellbeing as you do it.

When you’ve finished the training - getting a position in a group

When you’ve finished the training you will put your skills into practice in one of our new drop-in peer support groups. There will be three of these groups running every week, all year round. You’ll start by leading one of these groups with a fellow volunteer, receiving support and feedback from a member of staff until you feel ready to do in on your own. You will be able to choose the sessions to suit you, take breaks and get support when you need to.
