Description

Please Note: This training is only open to agency designated peers from contracted agencies within the King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division.

Hello Behavioral Health Peers of King County!

Thank you for signing up for this "Peer Employment Support Group" training, also referred to as "PESG." As you likely already know through your own employment experiences, employment plays a critical role in many people's recovery journeys. Becoming employed helps with enhancing a person's sense of purpose and meaning, increasing personal income, decreasing symptoms over the long run and expanding our natural support systems through work relationships. So we are excited that you and your agency have signed up for this training which will ultimately help more people you serve to become employed!

Training Logistics:This training requires a commitment to attend all four days of training. The dates of the training are:

  1. Monday-October 16th,
  2. Wednesday-October 18th,
  3. Tuesday-November 7th and
  4. Wednesday-November 8th.

By participating, you and your agency have agreed to provide an employment support group at your agency after completing the training. Please note there are no make-up days so please get these dates above on your calendars early. :-) We will also ask you to provide your supervisor's contact information so we can send reminders to both of you before each day to confirm your attendance.

We hope to offer a combination of classroom learning and interactive practice sessions in a welcoming and fun way. We also hope that you will walk away from this class with a network of other peers, in addition to your trainers, that you can reach out to when you provide these support groups in the future.

See you soon!

Lisa Floyd, King County Behavioral Health and Laurie Ford, Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation
