Description

Dear Pediatric Health Care Professionals,

Would you like to contribute to a discussion on improving biobank participation at BC Children’s Hospital, and its integration with health care, to ultimately shape policy changes and accelerate research breakthroughs?

The BCCH BioBank is a library of biological samples and clinical information for future medical research. We invite you to watch this 2 minute video about the BCCH BioBank. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxTJRon-oEw

We would like to hear your opinion on how participation in biobanking for medical research can be facilitated at BC Children’s Hospital. Biobanks are an extremely important resource leading to new and better treatments for patients. We want to make sure that the BC Children’s Hospital BioBank practices work for you and that they are effective, respectful and inclusive for all involved stakeholders.

We invite all pediatric health professionals to take part in an interactive workshop on November 29th, 2017 from 11:30 am to 1:00pm at BC Children's Hospital Research Institute. A short presentation will be provided on biobanking and medical research, followed by group discussions on topics such as: what are the benefits, risks and barriers to biobanking? How we can we make participation in biobanks easier for patients, hospital staff, and researchers?

Parking and other out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed and food and refreshments will be provided. We hope you will join us in this event to improve future biobank practices and are looking forward to hearing from you.

Register today! Please contact Tamsin Tarling at biobank@cw.bc.ca or 604 875 2000 ext 6423 if you have any questions or would prefer to register via email, as Eventbrite stores information as a third party for internal purposes only.

Yours Sincerely,

BCCH BioBank Research team:

Suzanne Vercauteren , Alice Virani, Shazhan Amed, Tamsin Tarling, Michelle Dittrick, Heather Van Tassel, Tram Pham
