Event description

Description

Are you wondering if there can ever be peace in this world?

Do you wonder if you can make a difference in the way your friends and family understand peace?

Do you wonder if other high school students are as concerned about bullying, or racism, or religious intolerance, or international wars, as you are?

Do you ask: What can I do about peace?

Certainly there's a lot of stuff on the internet that makes us nervous, and it seems as though issues like racism, bullying and international tensions are getting worse. But you can be a peacemaker, because even the greatest peacemakers of our time, like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. or Archbishop Desmond Tutu, were your age once.

On Sunday, November 12th, we are gathering together as many as 200 high school students from around the region for a peace-full day of conversation and sharing.

  • Hear from a Rotary International Peace Scholar working with Syrian refuges in Germany;
  • Understand better what concerns you, and find out how you can make a difference;
  • Practice making peace with the tools and insights you gain through the day.

At the end of the Summit, we believe you will understand there are many paths to peace and that there are things you can do right now to promote peace.

There is no cost. Food has been generously provided by Rotarians from around the region. Please register in advance. For added information contact Rotarian Fred Daniels at 518-573-4109. Space is limited; register today!
