About this Event

Shakti at the Bhakti is delighted to present Peace Fest, an outdoor festival dedicated to celebrating the Path of Peace while honoring the Divine Feminine Energy of love, compassion, kindness, and connection to the community. Everyone is welcome!!!

Throughout the day, we will be presenting workshops and sessions on ayurveda, storytelling, cooking demonstrations, kirtan, vedic astrology, mindful eating, body inclusivity, a cacao ceremony, alchemy sound baths, spirit animal exploration, meditation, yoga, and more.

The Presentations will include:

Ayurveda: The Mother of Healing

Ayurveda is called the Mother of Healing because it is 5000 years old. It is the original medicine of India. Its diet and lifestyle-based prescriptions heal body, mind and spirit to create holistic wellness. Karuna Diedericks is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist who has studied yoga, Vedic literature and Ayurveda for over two decades. She will be explaining the three Ayurvedic bio-energies (dosha), namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha that prevail in each individual in a unique combination that creates different body-types. Each body-type has different needs with a unique path to healing. Learning about their own body-types will empower attendees to know what is best to do, eat and avoid to create optimal health. Learn more about Karuna at https://findyournaturalbalance.com.

Ayurvedic Cooking: The Mother of Self-Healing

The most practical application of Ayurveda is through cooking. Food is indeed medicine in Ayurveda. With the understanding of Ayurvedic body-types comes the realization that everybody thrives on different foods. “Everything is good for somebody, nothing is good for everybody” is the popular axiom used. Karuna Diedericks is an expert in Ayurvedic nutrition. Combining her twenty year experience as a plant-based chef with her training as an Ayurvedic practitioner, she will present a cooking demo that is packed with valuable information about eating right for your type. She uses an array of whole foods and aromatic Indian spices to create tantalizing dishes that are simple, easy to make at home and pleasing to all the senses.

Storytelling and Tea

Tradition of Yoga has been passed on from teacher to student not only verbally, but also through epics and vedic texts (texts of philosophical knowledge). Join Pam Urcid for an afternoon of story telling of grand warriors that have been an inspiration for the development of practice as it is today, while sipping Tulsi Tea which is the sacred plant. Because of its earthly manifestation of the goddess Tulsi/Vrinda, it is also used as an offering to Krishna and his lotus feet. Let’s live history through the words of our teachers and the sacred texts which so humbly have made Yoga what it is today. Learn more about Pam at http://www.thebhogiyogi.com.

Vedic Astrology

Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, describes the planetary patterns at the time of our birth and can give us valuable clues to understanding our soul’s purpose. In Sanskrit, the word Jyotish is translated as the science of light and refers to a mathematically sophisticated form of astrology originating in the ancient Vedic traditions of India. Jyotish is a living tradition and sacred art, which has been passed from teacher to student orally for over 5000 years. Learn about this sacred tradition with vedic astrology counselor Pia Das. Learn more about Pia at https://piadasyoga.com.

Kirtan and Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti yoga is also known as the path of devotion and celebrates the universal human experience of oneness. Bhakti encourages connection to the heart as a way to experience the divinity of life. Because of this soulful and emotional connection, Bhakti has inspired kirtan (devotional singing) as a way to merge with the Divine mystery of life. Bhakti yoga teacher Pia Das will lead us in kirtan, as we sing sacred mantras to soothe the soul and open the heart. No previous singing experience is necessary. All you have to do is chant along to unlock the magic of the mantra. Sing with your heart and join the cosmic current of oneness and love.

Mindful Eating

Learn how to bring mindfulness into the kitchen and onto your plate. Cook with local vegan chef, Vanessa Cassani, and discover the tools to creating a healthy relationship with food. See just how easy it is to make plant-based meal through a live cooking demo and experience a guided eating meditation that will enhance your ability to becoming more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations related to eating. Learn more about Vanessa at https://www.livesimplynatural.com.

Body Inclusivity

Come and celebrate body diversity while experiencing a radical reimagining of what beauty is, where it can be found, and how each of us can welcome it into our lives. Join Vanessa Cassani, as she leads a profound exercise of unity and love for every body. Learn about the power of body inclusivity by standing together an affirming that all bodies are good bodies.

Sacred Cacao Ceremony

Welcome home to self in a heart-centered cacao ceremony. Learn about the history, and health benefits of this delicious ancient superfood. Yelitza Stylitza will lead us through a guided meditation, as we set purposeful intentions. Followed by an elevating musical journey of tuning in and bringing awareness to our deeper emotions, and putting them in motion with grounding body movement and self expression as the cacao flows through. Learn more about Yelitza at https://www.stylitza.net.

Alchemy Sound Bath

Cheree O’Dell will lead and facilitate a multi-layered sound bath to connect to nature and relax. During the sound bath, Cheree calls in and opens up to Universal Love Energy. This energy guides Cheree in playing her alchemy sound bowls to bring you to a space of higher consciousness and love. Each meditation is unique and brings in a beautiful healing energy intended for the highest good of all. Learn more about Cheree at https://www.chereespirit.com.

Birth Spirit Animal Meditation

Have you heard of people having a birth spirit animal? Have you ever wondered what yours would be? Based on ancient tradition, your spirit animal has been with you since birth. Cheree O’Dell will guide you through the process of finding yours and also how to incorporate your spirit animal into your life today. Please bring a pen, paper, eye mask, and something to lay on.
