Event Details

Hosted by the Portland Open Source GIS Users Group, this "unconference" will follow a 2-day traditional GIS conference, GIS In Action(GIA), which will also include some open source tracks--mostly concentrated on Thursday. GIA has a single day rate for those who would only want to attend Thursday.

This Friday/Saturday event will take place at PSU Urban Plaza. Check-in at Room 212.

Day 1

9am - Registration

9:30 - Put sessions in rooms based on votes

10:00 - Sessions start

Track 1 is a semi-structured series of invited talks, and participant-powered talks

Invited talks to include:

  • Tyler Mitchell of OSGEO - keynote
  • David Percy and Darrell Fuhriman - Desktop analytical tools
  • Tim Welch - GeoDjango
  • Webb Sprague - Command  line GIS (PostGIS) 
  • Eli Adam - Raster Processing with gdal
  • and more!

Track 2 will be organized ad hoc un-conference style - bring your ideas!

  • Portland open data initiative (civicmaps.org)
  • Creating beautiful maps
  • Spatialite (Spatial extensions for sqlite)
  • Cloud Based GeoData Services

  • Community Summit - How can we bridge gaps in PDX to make good things happen

Day 2

 10am - Reconvene

  • Codesprint/Documentation Sprint

PDX-OSGIS is working on becoming a chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGEO). All are welcome- our group ranges from the geo-curious to the überhackers. We meet the 4th Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8:00 PM at OpenSourcery in NW Portland.
