Building on the incredible success of last year's virtual workshop focused on writing and teaching cases reflecting under-represented identities, we invite you to enjoy the beautiful Providence College campus and Rhode Island seacoast for this year's PCSB - The PhD Project Case Writing Workshop.
We are excited to come together to help first-time case writers:
- understand the case writing and publishing process
- create a draft of a case and teaching note that includes under-represented identities as a topic, protagonist, or focus
- develop a community of case writers for continuing support
- grow your case teaching skills, both in planning and delivery
Space is limited and, based on the generous support of our sponsors, the cost of this workshop is kept low. We anticipate it will fill quickly. Participants are expected to attend all workshop sessions on all three days of the program.
Faculty Leads and Presenters Include:
Andy Borchers, co-editor, Journal of Critical Incidents, published by the Society for Case Research; professor of management and associate dean of Lipscomb University College of Business
Ann Hackert, co-editor of Business Case Journal, at-large director, Society for Case Research; director of assessment and professor of finance at Idaho State University
George L. Whaley, emeriti Editor of Business Case Journal, published by the Society for Case Research; emeritus professor of human resources management, San José State University
Schedule:
Breakfast is provided on Thursday and Friday. Lunch is provided Wednesday - Friday. The group dines together Wednesday evening at The Mooring in Newport, Rhode Island (included in program registration fee). Thursday evening is free time.
Wednesday, June 29 - Check-in, welcome and introductions, background on case writing and publishing, beginning of team work and idea sharing.
Thursday, June 30 - Case writing bootcamp, including warm-up exercises, case development, and teaching note tactics.
Friday, July 1 (partial-day) - Planning and delivering a case.
We hope to see you at the PCSB - The PhD Project Case Writing Workshop in June!
