Event description

Description

Ever been responsible for bring people together, undoubtedly with different backgrounds and frames on how they think and different ideas of where to go?

Ever had to support a a group to make decisions and take actions together?

That makes you a facilitator, now let’s make sure you are good at it!

An organiser is always facilitating whether it’s one on one on the street or it’s in a meeting with a 10 to 100 people.

It requires more than just imparting knowledge, but also balancing a groups interactions, while managing time, participation, responding to conflict, checking egos (including your own) and holding a space to encourage growth and relationships.

In the June PCOC workshop we will unpack the methods, processes and considerations of this core organising skill. We'll also look at many different ways to collectively reach strong, unifying decisions which enable groups to work effectively together toward common goals.

Facilitators on the night will demonstrate and share facilitation techniques, and explore what facilitators always need to be on alert for in group situations.

Finally we will learn about a number of different decision making methods and discuss when might be appropriate to use them, in order to reach collective decision everyone can get behind.

Bring a fellow organiser, campaigner or activist - plus a gold coin donation.

Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided on the night.

See you there
