PCOC 2017 Workshop 3:
Event Information
Description
It’s a no-brainer that training people builds capacity for social action! But too often training is an after-thought or under-resourced in social movements. Worse still, trainings can replicate dodgy power relationships we deplore by treating participants as passive consumers.
By contrast, training can provide a powerful collective experience, change individuals and build campaign momentum. We can design trainings that strengthen commitment to action and provoke critical engagement. We can approach campaigning and organising as ongoing learning opportunities.
Come along to this short taster session for tips, tricks and new ideas about:
-Running engaging trainings that motivate people to act
-What kinds of events to run when and for who, in your own context
-How to fit training in to a campaign plan or organising cycle
The session will connect you with a bunch of resources you can draw on for future training.
Tea, coffee and light snacks will be provided on the night.
