This training is rescheduled from one that was cancelled in March 2018 due to a snow storm.

This is a full-day regional training that aims to give participants a better understanding of how dating violence, domestic violence and stalking impact the lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer and Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming students on college campuses. We will address the unique barriers that LGBTQ+ students face, discuss best practices when working directly with this community, and provide a space for open dialogue.

This training has been designed to assist the NYS Department of Health (DOH) funded Enough Is Enough (EiE) providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve students within the LGBTQ community. EiE partner colleges, Title IX coordinators, investigators, campus law enforcement, security personnel and administrators are strongly encouraged to attend.

Presenter info: Tiffany Brec is the Campus Project Coordinator for Vera House Inc., in Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Brec is a dedicated violence prevention educator/advocate, with 10+ years of experience providing awareness and health promotion initiatives on a wide array of content including Interpersonal Violence, Stalking, and Sexual Violence, Bystander Intervention and IPV within the LGBTQ+ population.

Before becoming the Campus Project Coordinator at Vera House, Mrs. Brec was the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) Outreach Coordinator. She passionately worked to improve accessible and competent services to LGBTQ survivors of domestic and sexual violence; she developed outreach materials and violence prevention programs that were successfully implemented within high school and college campuses and provided training and consultattion to their faculties and staff.

khristian kemp-delisser (they/them/theirs) is director of the LGBT Resource Center at Syracuse University. A lifelong social justice educator, they have worked in Residence Life, LGBT Student Services, and Multicultural Affairs at various public and private universities, including the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, University of Vermont, and Colgate University. They have researched and presented widely at regional and national conferences on the experiences, needs, and cultural practices of LGBTQ+ students and staff of color in higher education. Inside the classroom, they have designed and taught courses on creative writing, gender and sexuality, student development theory, and intergroup dialogue.

They have previously served on non-profit boards, consulted with high schools, businesses, and educational organizations that serve LGBTQ+ youth and adults, including Outright VT, Pride Center of VT, and Central New York Alliance of LGBTQ Offices and Resources.

They hold a Bachelors in English and Newspaper Journalism from Syracuse University and a Masters in Student Higher Education & Affairs Administration and Ed.D in Educational Policy & Leadership, both from the University of Vermont.

Immediate registration is advised: This training is opening to all EiE program providers and their college partners. Should space become limited, priority will be given to those in DOH's Central region of New York (St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Herkimer, Oswego, Onieda, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, Chenango, Cortland, Tompkins, Tioga and Broome).

Time: Registration will begin at 8:00 AM. Training will begin promptly at 8:30 AM and run until 4:00 PM. Participants will be given 90 minutes for lunch on their own. Lunch options on and off campus will be provided at a later date.

Training location: Onondaga Community College, Coulter Hall Library -- Community Room located on the first floor. Gender neutral restroom on site.

Food: 90 minute break for lunch will be provided. Please feel to bring your breakfast, coffee/water and snacks.
